1957-1958 Ford F 100 Pickup Truck​ Engine continued Ford’s promise of reliable, powerful engines for its truck lineup. They were in the second generation of F-series trucks that were largely improved in performance and design. : Engines in these trucks were powerful enough to work and play, which is why they were popular among truck drivers. 

The standard engine for the 1957-1958 Ford F-100 was a 223 cubic inch I6 with about 137 horsepower and 198 lb-ft of torque. This engine was built to last and run cheaply, good for daily use and short-term towing. For the superchargers among us, there was the 272 cubic inch V8, producing 173 horsepower and 254 lb-ft of torque, that gave the 1957-1958 Ford F 100 Pickup Truck​ Engine  extra power when it came to towing and hauling cargo. Both engines came standard with a 3-speed manual and optional 4-speed manual or automatic, so drivers had to make the decision that was best for them.
