Description
The 1974 Ford F-250 engine lineup had several robust drivetrains for work and play. The base 3.9L I6 delivered 150 horsepower and was great for quick work and driving around town. It had a 4.2L V8 that put out 164 horsepower with strength and economy for light towing and hauling. Its 4.7L V8 made 205 horsepower which didn’t feel heavy. For heavy hauling and towing, the 5.8L V8 made 240 horsepower, while the 6.4L V8 (260 horsepower) was spaced for high-end towing.
1974 Ford F-250 engines were built to be long-lasting and multi-functional, working and driving at the same time. Combine these engines with a tough chassis, and the truck is powered across rough terrain and tough work. You could get the fuel efficiency of the 3.9L I6 or the power of the 6.4L V8, but the 1974 Ford F-250 got the job done. This was a truck that kept on running, for work and daily commute.
